Site is coming along, but slowly…

I have a number of different projects in active development right now, and so it is difficult to spend the time I need to get all the resources posted here.  I hope to have these other sites finished and in easy ”maintenance mode” by the end of the week, and then I will have more time to dedicate to getting this site as helpful to readers as I would like for it to be.  Here’s to hoping…

HostGator Trial

So far I’ve been pleased with my HostGator trial. It took them almost 48 hours to get the DNS set up, but that’s no big deal. They have cPanel with Fantastico, which is easy to use, though you have to use an FTP program, like FileZilla, to upload your files.

What’s impressed me so far has been the site’s responsiveness. Even running sites with no traffic can be a bear with some hosts, but so far I haven’t noticed any sluggishness whatsoever.

You can see the test site here: Hosting Website. Much like this site, it is just in the beginning stages of being built. ; )

Do keep in mind that this site has no traffic to slow it down right now except for a trickle of folks coming from here.

Time Pressing In On Me

I have been busier than ever and have, by default, been neglecting this site.  I still have high hopes for it, but the truth of the matter is that this is going to take a much longer time to put together than I had imagined.

As a result, I have decided to concentrate my hosting website fun on a site that is much easier to build.  Once I have that one up and running properly, it will be easier to come back here and begin to casually update it until it is completed.  Well, it will never be fully completed, but it will eventually reach a level of functionality where it becomes actually useful for readers.  In the meantime, I hope to get the other site, Hosting Website, at full scale by the last week of July–amidst all my other tasks and jobs.

Hopefully, I’ll see you back around here by September.

As Most of You Know

As most of you know, I’ve moved my efforts, temporarily, to Hosting Website.

I’m just dropping by here to let you know that I think I’ve gotten a pretty important article written that will be helpful to anyone who is hosting their own website.  Essentually, it describes all the things you need to do to make sure that your site is running smoothly and using as few server resources as possible.

You can read that article here:  Optimizing A Site for Servers
